Ethics and Good Practices

Contemporânea is committed to maintaining high standards of ethics and good publishing practices, basing its editorial conduct on the international principles of the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. Therefore, editors, reviewers and authors follow guidelines that guide their work in the journal before, during and after the publication process of each issue.
In general terms, editors undertake to: (1) investigate any instance of plagiarism or textual recycling through anti-plagiarism programs when a manuscript is submitted; (2) choose referees who do not have a conflict of interest with the authors; (3) make the decision about submission, based on the reviewers' evaluation, the focus and scope of the journal, the originality of the manuscript and the text's compliance with the guidelines for authors; this decision is made based on the editors' reading of the text, after receiving opinions; (4) take reasonable response measures when ethical complaints have been made in relation to a submitted manuscript or published article.

In relation to reviewers, members of the journal's editorial team or ad hoc reviewers, they undertake to: (1) respond to the request for an opinion immediately, accepting or denying it, in order to make the entire review process agile assessment; (2) reject the evaluation if they perceive any conflict of interest in relation to the manuscript; (3) notify the editors if you notice similarities between the manuscript and other published texts of which you are aware; (4) evaluate the manuscript objectively and constructively; (5) indicate relevant works already published that were not cited by the authors, avoiding, whenever possible, self-citation; (6) complete all stages of the evaluation, re-reading new versions in new rounds of evaluation, if necessary, until a final decision is reached; (7) meet the deadlines established by the editorial process; (8) agree to carry out the evaluation openly, to have your opinion published as supplementary material and to have your name published in the article you evaluated.

Finally, the authors, already in the submission process, declare that: (1) the contribution is original and unpublished, and therefore does not qualify as plagiarism and/or or textual recycling; (2) if the manuscript uses images (books, internet, etc.), authorization to use the images was sent to the editors of Revista Cad_Lin; (3) in the case of texts with more than one author, the role of each author in the production of the article is duly described, in accordance with the CRediT taxonmy; (4) if the work had financial support, the source(s) are explained; and (5) agree to the publication of opinions issued and responses to opinions; (6) the text will be reviewed based on the relevance of the comments made by the reviewers, explaining to the editors any contrary decision if they consider that any comment is not relevant.

The Journal's Retraction Policy is inspired by the Guidelines for Retraction of the Publication Ethics Committee-COPE. Editors will review all communications that highlight issues with a publication, whether minor or significant. Detailed information must be sent to the Editor-in-Chief's email. If editors confirm the allegations, they may consider asking authors to correct specific errors or mistakes, or they may consider retracting a publication. Authors who publish in the journal must agree to correct possible errors or mistakes when requested by the editors.
