Abstract

This article analyzes the dynamics of conflict and control between the Brazilian Institute of Agrarian Reform (Ibra) and the peasant population of the target regions of the Papucaia Integrated Colonization Project (PIC), in the municipality of Cachoeiras de Macacu/RJ, in the first years of the business-military dictatorship. Based on the interpretative analysis of newspapers, documents and interviews, the implementation of the PIC was reconstructed, understanding the mechanisms associated with the colonization policy and the conflicts between the agents of this policy and the peasants.
