Masculinities and pentecostalism as a neoliberal technology
Abstract
The central proposal of this article is to think about some essential images that emerge from the intersection between neoliberal rationality, gender identity and religious belonging that appears in the discourses on masculinities in two different movements, however, with complementary dynamics developed by the UCKG. In the first case, I will talk about the notion of masculinity worked in the context of the Intellimen project, in the second case, I will address the reports of former bishops and pastors who underwent vasectomy and how the principle of male sterilization puts into practice a notion of government that needs operate the nation's success through its population control. Thus, I intend to think of neoliberal rationality as a performativity, ways of acting that depend on the way a particular body is read in a space of social interaction, which allows us to think about the dynamics of exteriorities and what the subject is that emerges from the scene. neoliberalism from the context of the margins.
