The concept of artification as transformation
Abstract
The concept of artification has recently emerged in the Sociology of Art. This article aims to contribute to the existing discussions about the concept. Thus, it begins by drawing a brief parallel between the different theoretical perspecti- ves, to then focus on the strand of Heinich and Shapiro, presenting their theory in more depth. Artification, as a process of transforming something that was not considered art into art, encompasses certain conditions and, depending on the context, faces incentives or obstacles. Operators designed to analyze the artifica- tion process will be studied.
