Abstract

Democracy, social participation and institutional innovations: an approach from the Belo Horizonte Youth Reference Center

The article focuses on the Centro de Referência das Juventudes in Belo Horizonte, from the demands of the youths for its creation to the occupation by young people in 2016 and its subsequent functioning. With the support of theoretical developments of contemporary democratic theory, the work aims to address the forms of social participation of youths who mobilize irrigating institutional innovations, among which the creation of a participatory Management Committee. The methodology involved surveys, participant observation of semi-structured interviews
