Theoretical and methodological challenges to analyzing consumption by the Brazilian popular classes

This article aims to discuss some of the theoretical and methodological challenges involved in analyzing the consumption practices of a fraction of the Brazilian popular classes in the process of upward mobility in recent decades. To this end, we present a qualitative research report carried out in Recife, with members of this class fraction, focusing on the challenges posed by constructing this complex "object" and the relevance of the theoretical-methodological tools of dispositionalist sociology in the analysis of consumption popular.
