Under the creative guidance of Professor Maria Moraes, during my PhD in Sociology, I learned about the methodology of Oral History. With the objectives of revealing the unspeakable and understanding the silences of the cultural world of origin, we developed the gossip workshop, which proved to be eff ective in understanding cultural (dis)identifi cation and the denial of the past prior to religious conversion.
