Abstract

Access to healthcare is not always guaranteed, as various economic and social factors influence these services. This article presents a research agenda for the Economic Sociology of Health, aiming to integrate discussions on the economic and social dimensions of health, including the moral aspects involved. To this end, three main axes were addressed: (1) the right to health and its economic limits; (2) healthcare financing, discussing the relationship between the market and the state; and (3) health inequalities and income distribution. The findings of this research highlight the importance of an approach that considers not only economic factors but also social and moral ones, in order to promote more equitable access to healthcare.
