Abstract

The aim of this article is to examine Lévi-Strauss's studies of the Nambiquaras, with particular attention to the social dynamics considered by the author to be key cultural elements for the constitution of life in society: contract and consent. Building upon this analysis, a dialogue is established with Freudian theories on the establishment of culture, emphasizing the concept of drive renunciation.
