Abstract

This article addresses international migration in the Brazilian Northeast, focusing on intercultural marriages between immigrant men of different nationalities and brazilian women in Aracaju/SE. The research explores the transmission of family rituals, such as food and religion, in the observance of power dynamics in these relationships, revealing the creation of new cultural practices. Using a quantitative and qualitative approach, nine interviews were conducted with heterosexual cis couples, which showed that family rituals are mechanisms for stabilizing and managing changes in the family and social environment.
