Abstract

The article investigates the relationship between part of the theoretical work and the professional trajectory of sociologist Octavio Ianni, especially in the 1970s, in particular, the radicalization of his interpretations after the 1964 coup, the hardening of the Dictatorship in 1968, and the cancellation of his right to teach, in 1969. Mainly through interviews, we sought to investigate the specifics of certain divergences inside the Cebrap, particularly between Octavio Ianni, Fernando Henrique Cardoso and José Arthur Giannotti, as well as to examine the reasons why of this situation.
