Abstract

Based on the case study of the Hapvida Group, we problematize the transformations in the field of private health care, with emphasis on the rise of health plan operators. The internal and external causalities that led to the success of these organizations in the country are discussed. We seek to understand, on the one hand, the political, economic and legal transformations in this sector of the economy, especially after the 1988 Constitution. On the other, the changes in the organizational management model of some of these corporations, with emphasis on horizontal concentration, management verticalization and the salaries of doctors.
