Abstract

Th e aim of this article is to approach the work of sociologist Maria Aparecida de Moraes Silva from the point of view of temporary work in agriculture. To this end, it discusses how the empirical studies undertaken by the author were decisive for the construction of a concrete approach to rural labor in the context of São Paulo agriculture. It also indicates how the temporality of work, mobilized by diff erent studies on capitalism in the countryside, was reworked by Silva based on empirical situations that provided rich elements for the construction of a multidimensional view of the phenomenon.
